Premier, a healthcare improvement company, issued the following news release:

More than 200 hospitals and health systems have joined Premier Inc.’s QUEST 2020 collaborative to design, test and spread new advances in care delivery across their organizations to improve outcomes and achieve success in value-based payment.

A leading healthcare improvement company, Premier officially launched QUEST 2020 this year to build on the legacy of its nationally-recognized QUEST collaborative, which achieved a documented savings of nearly $18 billion and more than 200,000 lives over a nine-year period, as well as outperformed a similar group of hospitals in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Value-Based Purchasing Program by 45%.

While QUEST hospitals focused on sharing acute care data, QUEST 2020 hospitals have expanded this work to include ambulatory and community health data in an effort to set more comprehensive, national standards for care delivery improvement. QUEST 2020 uses learnings from QUEST to drive advances in care across six priority areas: patient safety, communication and care coordination, affordable care, person and family experience, health and wellbeing, and prevention and treatment.

“Sharing best practices, data and proven results allows us to better prepare for and navigate today’s healthcare landscape, while improving quality and reducing costs at the same time,” said Teri Sholder, chief quality officer at BayCare Health System of Tampa Bay, Florida, a new member of QUEST 2020 that includes 14 hospitals. “QUEST 2020 is integral to expanding our quality improvement work beyond acute care to ensure innovations are scaled across our organization.”

QUEST 2020 provides customized compliance, improvement and specialized support networks based on member needs.

132 hospitals are participating in the compliance network, learning how to best translate and comply with complex legislative implications, as well as regulatory reporting and programmatic requirements, and take advantage of opportunities for greater reimbursement.

44 hospitals are participating in the improvement network to enhance performance by integrating and effectively analyzing ambulatory, community and quality data.

47 hospitals are participating in one or more of the four specialized networks, which are focused on electronic health record optimization, infection prevention, Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting and accreditation readiness. These networks engage a broad scope of stakeholders outside the quality department and beyond hospital walls to solve targeted service line challenges.

“We are thrilled to be working with more than 200 hospitals on next generation quality improvement models, which are rapidly evolving,” said Madeleine Biondolillo, MD, vice president of quality and safety at Premier. “QUEST 2020 members are industry leaders that are learning from top performers, testing new practices, measuring results, and sharing data and outcomes with each other, accelerating and sustaining highly-reliable care across their organizations.”

Developed to inspire, support and guide health systems in embracing their skills to transform the design, quality and performance of care delivery, QUEST 2020 connects providers with peers, evidence-based practices and data. The program is fully aligned with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s National Quality Strategy to provide better, more affordable care for individuals and the community.
